- Inform Concern (Letter of approval for operation) which has been signed by the patient or responsible for the patient.
- General conditions include; all body systems especially the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
- The results of the examination / supporting data and the results of tissue biopsy if any.
- With the suport of mental preparation and mental health education, about the course of surgical operations by nurses and mental support by clergy.
- Consult with anesthesia, for readiness in anesthesia.
- Tell the things that might happen later after surgery, especially if performed total thyroidectomy associated with thyroid hormone supplements for life.
Intraoperative Management for Thyroid Cancer :
- The role of nurses only help smooth the operation because the responsibility is entirely held by the doctor who operated on.
Postoperative Management for Thyroid Cancer
- Observation of vital signs of patients (GCS) and keep it stable.
- Observe for bleeding and postoperative complications.
- Bring Emergency Kit equipment or at least not easily accessible when needed at any time or things happen that are not desirable.
- As soon as possible inform the patient if the operation has been completed after the patient awoke from anesthesia to further calm the patient.
- Perform follow-up care after the patient is moved to a general ward.
